Meet the Atlanta CareerRise Team!

Cinda Herndon-King

Cinda Herndon-King, Ph.D. is the Director of Atlanta CareerRise, and has led the project since its inception in 2011. Prior to this, she established an education and workforce development program at Georgia Bio, a life science trade association, including an industry partnership that provided training to frontline employees, and supported middle school, high school and technical college programs.

Before moving to Georgia, Cinda worked extensively in the technology-based economic development arena in Ohio and Pennsylvania. She received a B.S from Clemson University, a Ph.D. from the Oak Ridge Graduate School of the Biomedical Sciences, and was a postdoctoral fellow at The Pennsylvania State University.

Natania Carter
Director of Operations

Natania Carter was a 2018 National Urban Fellow with the Annie E. Casey Foundation-Atlanta Civic Site where she conducted research focused on economic opportunity and managed programming in the Atlanta community. As a fellow, she earned her Masters in Public Administration from Baruch College. Prior to that she was a Senior Process Engineer in the pharmaceutical industry and holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Florida State University. The combination of her past experiences allows her to apply a systems-thinking approach to complexities in workforce development to help facilitate economic self-sufficiency.

Helen Slaven
Healthcare Industry Partnership Consultant

Helen Slaven has over 15 years of experience in workforce development, engagement and transformation. In her roles as chief learning officer, educator and organization development consultant, she has helped to create and lead numerous workforce efforts across healthcare organizations in Miami, Atlanta and New York City. Her skills include project development and management, evaluation, training, facilitation and strategic planning. In her role as Healthcare Industry Partnership Manager, she leads the Atlanta CareerRise healthcare training efforts. Helen holds a doctorate degree in Leadership and Adult Learning with a specialization in Human Resource Development from Barry University in Miami Shores, FL.
